100 Followers Giveaway!!!

Wow! I am speechless! 100 followers? I am deeply honoured to have reached this number. I never expected much, as I'm the sort of person who likes not to expect too much.;) But you surprised me in such a great way. I would like to thank you by hosting a giveaway and because I am truly grateful to you all, I will make this an international giveaway.

Because, of all the genres, my favourite genre is still the historical novel, I decided to gift you with a historical novel. After some deliberation, I chose the novel I, Mona Lisa by Jeanne Kalogridis. I, personally, love to read the what-of stories behind paintings and other objects, and this novel offers you just that in a blend of facts and fiction.

I, MONA LISA takes place in Florence in 1478. The handsome Giuliano de’ Medici is brutally assassinated in Florence’s magnificent Duomo. The shock of the murder ripples throughout the great city, from the most artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, to a wealthy wool merchant and his extraordinarily beautiful daughter, Madonna Lisa.

More than a decade later, Florence falls under the dark spell of the preacher Savonarola, a fanatic who burns paintings and books as easily as he sends men to their deaths. Lisa, now grown into an alluring young woman, captures the heart of Giuliano’s newphew and namesake. But when her love Giuliano meets a tragic end, Lisa must gather all her courage and cunning to untangle a sinister web of illicit love, treachery, and dangerous secrets that threaten her life.

Set against the drama of fifteenth-century Florence, I, MONA LISA is painted in many layers of fact and fiction, with each intricately drawn twist told through the captivating voice of the Mona Lisa herself.”

HOW TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY: It's very simple. Just post a comment about why you love to read and leave your e-mail. You have to be a follower of this blog to be able to participate in this giveaway. I will choose the winner using Random.org, BUT you will have even more chance to win this novel if you post about it on your blog, twitter, etc. If you do so, please leave a link to this post in your comment.

Books take me to places I wish I could go - or hang with people I would love to hang with. In books I can climb mountains, visit Africa, weep with an abused child, fly on the back of a dragon - I read for adventure.... for knowledge.... for the thrill of never knowing where you may be going...

Congrats on reaching 100 it is such an awesome feeling to get there.

Reading introduces me to new and exciting people and lets me enjoy adventures I will never experience in real life. I can go to the past, the present or the future and be a part of something bigger than myself. It relaxes me, and makes me happy.

Books allow me to escape from reality. I can travel the world whenever I read. It lets me go to places I've never seen, and might never see. Books also allow me to take a peek at the writers' world and see their soul.

Oops! And I meant to add that books can take me places I would never dream of visiting in person. And they allow me to be whoever I need to be--a detective, a doctor, a superhero, etc! I love it....

Wow, congrats on 100 followers! :)

Well, I love to read because it takes me a way from my sometimes really boring life and enters me into a whole new world. I am currently reading the last Harry Potter book for the 2nd time, and I really feel like I want to read all the books again...

I am a new follower.I would love to read this Book. It is so my kind of read.
Why I love to read? I love the feel of a heavy book, the smell of old book pages and I love the thoughts it puts in my head, and the other thoughts that get pushed back. Yay books.

Well first of all congrats on 100 followers :) Secondly, the reason I love to read and have since I was younger is because I had a kidney transplant three years ago and when times got so tough I could barely cope whether I was in the hospital or at home books always allowed me a way of escape to meet new people and go new places during a time when I couldn't get there physically I could always get there in my mind to escape if only for a little while :)
