Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop is hosted at Crazy-for-Books.

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

This week's question: When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?

Usually, I give a book about 100-150 pages to "grab me". If that doesn't happen, it depends on whether I borrowed it or bought it. If I borrowed it (from a library or a friend), I simply stop reading it and return it. If I bought that book, then I try to read it until the last page even if I suffer. It may sound ridiculous, but if I spent money on a book, I want to at least read it. It gives me a false feeling that I didn't entirely waste my money.:)We cannot like all books as readers, which is completely natural. Luckily, it doesn't happen often that I hate a book, but when it does, well, that is my policy.

Hopping by to visit and follow! I used to try to stick it out with tougher books I'd bought, too. These days, I'm more prone to just quitting. :-) I love your blog header! The illustration reminds me of my mental image for Katniss from The Hunger Games.

You're a more patient reader than I am. I usually give a book 50 pages (and that's if I'm feeling generous) to thrill me. If it fails, it gets passed on, donated to the library or, in the case of ARCs, tossed in the recycle bin.

Glad to have found you via the Hop :)

I just found you through the hop and really like your blog :)

I stop reading a book after 50 to 100 pages. Thankfully, I don't buy a lot of books, and when I do buy a book, it's one I've been wanting to read for a while and will probably end up liking. The only book I remember buying and despising was Robinson Crusoe. I'm pretty sure it's been thrown in a corner somewhere and will stay there for eternity!

I love your header picture! I would give up on a book way before 100 pages....Often I will begin reading a book in the bookstore before I decide to buy it. It is a disappointment to buy a book and then really hate it. Stopping by on the hop--have a great weekend.

Hi Irena,
I generally put a book aside for later if I don't like it. Then I pick it up and read it later on. Sometimes it's not for me at that time.

I know what you mean, I'm stubborn about insisting on finishing. Somehow it feels less like bailing.

I'm a new follower. Drop by my blog and share your scary/paranormal reviews, interviews or giveaways all month long on my Giving me the Creeps October links page. And spread the scary with fellow bloggers.

New follower here!

I do the 100 page thing too, although if I *know* it's a book I'm not going to like, and not just me being moody, I'll put it on paperback swap, then I still feel I got my money's worth, lol!
