Southern Literature Challenge

Jen at The Introverted Reader is hosting the Southern Literature Challenge and I am joining in.

RULES: Read a book(s)--non-fiction or fiction of any genre, adult or young adult--written by an author from the South and set mostly in the South.

I'm signing up for Level 4--Y'all come back now, y'hear!, which means I intend to read 4 books for this challenge.

Here is "a list Best Southern Literature list on GoodReads that readers have voted on that should give you lots of ideas."

There are some great books on that list--some I've read, more I really need to read. But I've signed up for two challenges already and am contemplating a third. I'll keep this one in mind. And I look forward to seeing your choices/reviews.

Good challenge-I bet it will overlap with your challenge to read some good American novels challenge; Faulkner would be on both, I believe.

Ooh, I wonder if Sookie Stackhouse counts... I am going to investigate. Any excuse to read Charlaine Harris is worth taking!

@Susan: The list really does offer some great books, that's why I signed up. Searching for reading challenges is fun.

@Bookworm: I intend to read more American classics next year, so this challenge, overlapping with my own, will serve me well. I want to read at least one Faulkner novel next year.

@Becky: Yes, Charlaine Harris counts, yay! She's great to read.

A couple of my favorites: Raney and A Walk Across Egypt by Clyde Edgarton and The Education of Little Tree. Also liked Cold Sassy Tree and The Yearling.
