Friday is for Fairy-Tales: Snow White and the Huntsman

This is a meme hosted by me every Friday.

My post today is about: Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

Today, I don't have a fairy-tale to share because I found out about a new movie adaptation of a classic fairy-tale and wanted to share the news instead.

Director Rupert Sanders will do Snow White and the Huntsman for Universal: it's a new take on the classic fairy tale, the script is written by Evan Daugherty. The cast includes Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Viggo Mortensen. The release date of Snow White and the Huntsman is set for December 21, 2012.

Plot: Based on the legendary fairy tale, Snow White and the Hunstman follows the princess after the evil Queen Ravenna calls for her death, centering on the huntsman who disobeys orders and allows the fair maiden to live. The updated story will break from convention by having the huntsman mentor and train Snow White to fight off Ravenna herself.

Movie Cast:
- Kristen Stewart in the title role as Snow White
- Viggo Mortensen as the titular huntsman
- Charlize Theron as the evil Queen Ravenna

Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron are great actors and while Stewart's fame as Bella Swann in the Twilight movie saga worries me (she is so very famous as Bella), I think this movie might prove to be really interesting.

One other movie adaptation of the fairy-tale that I am familiar with is Snow White: A Tale of Terror, which I rather like. It is a sort of guilty pleasure of mine. You may see the trailer HERE.

Have you seen this version? If so, what do you think of it?

What do you think of the new adaptation that will be released in 2012?

The new version sounds interesting. The cast is great. I haven't seen Snow White: A Tale of Terror, yet, but trusting to your good taste I'll have to check it out:)

I think Viggo is awesome and I assume he'll have a much bigger role than in the Disney Snow White but I'm not that excited about Stewart or Theron-I've never really liked either of them. I will just have to wait and see.

Viggo Mortensen? Ooh what a cast. Hmmm... I wonder what will be next. Sleeping Beauty perhaps or Cinderella. I'd like to see a new Beauty and the Beast not a Disney version but a real up to date, modern twist. That would be cool.
